Oversize work,
without the handoff
An eleven-metre shaft is awkward to move and expensive to move twice. Having turning, milling and both grinding operations on the same floor means the part is set up once and finished in sequence rather than shuttled between shops.
The same equipment does the grinding stage of every cylinder rebuild and every re-chromed roll that passes through the works.
